The problem is that it only takes 1 person that can re-vote to totally skew the results one way or the other. Not that this kind of poll is super useful in anyway but that discovery by @Shocker-maniac: pretty much render it irrelevant.

      I agree.

      • I was curious about the integrity of that poll within an hour of it appearing. My browser didn't tell me that I had already voted, but the percentages also didn't change. So I'm pretty certain it only accepted the first vote and none of the subsequent votes.

Since when did Rahm Emanuel become an employee of KSN?

          • Regarding the MVC Coaches and what appears to be the conference themselves supporting HCJA, I understand that Jody herself made it possible for the tournament to move from St. Charles to the Quad Cities. Then I noticed that one of her former assistant coaches, who coached at UMKC with her and followed her to SIU, now coaches in that area. Is there a little payback for support? Don't know if there is or not, just interesting how these coaches supporting each other without knowing details or specifics. Or maybe they do?

            • Did anyone else just see the interview with HCJA on KAKE news just now? I am interested in people's thoughts/reactions.

Yes. Given that she didn't really have anything substantial to say I am not sure why she wanted to keep this in the news. Odd in fact.

                • They say more at 10 pm.......would like for her to address the mass exodus over the years in more detail. For there to be changes I would think she would what to clear all doubt......

                  • Well, unfortunately, the 10 pm portion of the interview did not really help change my perspective. When asked if she had any regrets, she answered with one of those "I regret IF my actions were interpreted in such and such way." This type of answer indicates either inappropriate pride and lack of remorse for one's actions or, even worse, really poor insight/emotional intelligence.
When asked about her plans to "enhance" her coaching techniques, she seemed to imply that some of her former players have been highly sensitive and that she will assess players' levels of sensitivity in the future and adjust her coaching with their individual sensitivity in mind. (Not sure I got that right. I am certainly open to other interpretations of what she said about sensitivity.)
That statement, if I interpreted it correctly, was very disturbing to me. These 24 players who have left the program early were not really more sensitive than anyone else would be, under the circumstances. I would prefer to hear her say...."I agree that I will no longer use the McCarthy-like tactics of letting one player "off the hook" for an offense if they report/rat on their teammate. I will no longer put players at health risks by berating them if they want medical evaluation, and I will most certainly abide by the medical restrictions which are recommended by the training/medical staff. I will not forbid my players from speaking with anybody in particular, realizing that they are adults, and that they are not enslaved to Wichita State or our coaching staff. I will not use food restriction as a punishment. I will not place players in "double jeopardy" wherein they will be punished if they leave a class early to get to practice on time if the class is running long....and be punished if they stay at class until the end and are therefore minimally late to practice."
Chances of me hearing any of that is probably nil, though.....

In other words, you were never a person that was going to listen to anything Jody had to say since you clearly think that she was entirely in the wrong and would have wanted her fired.

Clearly, right or wrong, the administration is retaining Jody under the premise that the conflict between players and coaches was more about miscommunication of standards than intentional abuse. If they are wrong about that analysis and your view is right, then what Jody says seems kind of irrelevant. If they are right about that analysis and you are wrong, then what Jody said may be fairly reasonable.

What is not reasonable is to act like you should be able to both pile on accusation after accusation AND expect the person in question to not only not defend themselves, but to try to appeal to those most vehemently against them by joining in said pile on of themselves.

You were never going to get what you wanted out of Jody's statement, because in the scenario you want, Jody is not giving a statement as WSU's women's basketball coach.

                      • Actually, this is not about me, but about the student athletes who represent Wichita State Women's Basketball, and how they are treated. I have no problem with HCJA remaining at the helm, as long as the statements listed above are adhered to. I obviously don't anticipate that she would have enough humility to declare them as I've listed them....just that she would treat players appropriately.

If you think that things were bad enough for her to make the statement you wanted her to make, then I have a hard time reconciling the idea that you want the best for the student athletes and have no problem with Adams at the helm.

Based on how things have gone, the reason someone would be fine with Adams being retained is the belief that the investigation found mitigating evidence against the kinds of claims that have been mentioned here and elsewhere. Yet, what you are demanding is that Adams act like there were no mitigating factors. If there were no mitigating factors, she should not be retained. If there were, she shouldn't have to give a statement that acts like there was no level of exoneration from the investigation. You can't have it both ways.

                          • I would clearly not be disappointed if she were not retained, but my primary consideration is that the student athletes be treated appropriately from this day forward.
The desired statements which I listed above could (and probably should) be made by her ACTIONS rather than her words. What disappointed me about her "regret" statement was that it did not appear to own up to ANY of her actions. This is really common in public apologies. "I regret IF I was perceived to..."
                            Anyway, enough on this.

Indeed, best wishes to Kayla. UTPB is in Odessa, Texas and is in the Heartland Conference. Same conference as Newman University and also Dallas Baptist for everything other than baseball.
